Noosa is synonymous with water, and fabulous Laguna Bay is the region’s focal point. North-facing Main Beach offers clean, clear water, golden sand and sunshine year round. Water temperature averages 25 0 Celsius (770 Fahrenheit) in summer through to 19 0 Celsius (66.2 0 Fahrenheit) in the winter months. Laguna Bay is also the entrance to the pristine Noosa River, which provides a safe boating and fishing haven and boasts more than 40 kilometres of waterways.

Noosa provides a world of opportunity for water sports, whether sailing in the river or protected bay, water or jet skiing, or fishing. Sunshine Beach, on Noosa’s southern boundary, marks the beginning of a stunning stretch of unspoiled beaches, which are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving or just worshipping the sun.

Noosa’s 350-hectare national park features rainforests bursting with wildlife, delightful secluded beaches, well maintained picnic areas and walking tracks.

Where in the world is Noosa?

Noosa is at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast, a central point of southeast Queensland, Australia.

Noosa is a comfortable 1 ½ to 2 hours drive north from Brisbane, and 250 kilometres north of the Gold Coast. A key domestic airport is located about 25 minutes south. Flight times are 1½ hours from Sydney and 2 ½ hours from Melbourne.

Near Noosa

Noosa is the stepping-stone to such environmental marvels as the Noosa River Everglades and the Cooloola National Park. It is also less than 2 hours by road to Hervey Bay; home of winter whale watching and the main access point to the world heritage listed Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world.
Communications and Infrastructure

Noosa has a modern telecommunications infrastructure, including access to broadband Internet access and world-class telephone services.

A full range of television services is available via four commercial and two public stations. ‘Pay TV’ services are provided by Austar, giving access to a further 40 plus TV stations. Local radio stations are complemented by access to Brisbane commercial stations in most areas of Noosa.

Noosa has a full range of school services, from pre-school through to senior level of Secondary School. The University of the Sunshine Coast is at Chancellor Park, 40 minutes south by road. A campus of the university is soon to be established in Noosa.

Modern medical services, along with key essential services such as Police, Ambulance and Fire, are all available in Noosa.

Affordability

Despite its national and international popularity as a holiday destination, Noosa remains an affordable place to live. Within minutes of the ocean and other attractions, it is still possible to buy a four-bedroom home in the Cooloola and Sunrise Beach areas for less than $300,000.
